University of Tampa's Artificial Intelligence Minor provides students with a strong technical foundation in the principles, methods and applications of modern AI. Through five carefully sequenced core courses and one elective, students progress from foundational AI concepts to the design and implementation of intelligent software systems.
Along the way, students learn how AI systems represent knowledge, learn from data and make decisions while developing practical skills in programming, software engineering, data analysis and machine learning. Hands-on projects throughout the curriculum provide experience designing, implementing and evaluating AI-driven software systems.
The curriculum is intentionally structured to build knowledge step-by-step. Students begin with the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and data representation before advancing to software engineering for AI, machine learning and modern AI applications. By combining theoretical understanding with practical development experience, graduates are prepared to contribute to AI-related projects across a wide range of industries.

Experiential Learning Opportunities
Project-based courses provide students with opportunities to design, implement and evaluate AI-driven software systems. Throughout the program, students will apply classroom concepts to practical challenges, while developing the programming and software engineering skills needed to build intelligent applications.
This minor is designed for students who want to develop a deeper understanding of AI, regardless of their major. While housed in the Department of Computer Science, the curriculum is intentionally accessible to students from a variety of disciplines who have completed introductory programming coursework. Project-based learning and interdisciplinary elective options allow students to tailor the minor to their academic interests and career goals while developing practical AI skills that complement almost any field.
Admissions Requirements
The Artificial Intelligence minor has no separate admission process or additional admission requirements. Students interested in the program should consult with their academic advisor to ensure they have completed the introductory programming prerequisite and can incorporate the minor into their degree plan.
