We invite you to help bring CONTRA-TIEMPO Dance Company to the University of Tampa for a Fall 2026 visiting residency, with a total investment of $50,000. At a time when disconnection and uncertainty are common, the Roots of Loving Us project reminds us of what can bring people together.

This visiting residency offers a way to connect through movement, reflection and compassion, helping students and community members alike rediscover the power of love expressed through art. Beyond the campus, the company will partner with local schools, nonprofit organizations and community centers to offer movement-based workshops that promote healing, communication and collective well-being. A public artist talk will also invite discussion on how dance and creativity can strengthen understanding and inspire connection across backgrounds and experiences.

Bringing CONTRA-TIEMPO to the University of Tampa will strengthen the University's commitment to creativity, artistic excellence and community partnership, while enriching the cultural vitality of the entire Tampa Bay region.

Donations of any amount are welcome.

Movement That Unites

College of Arts and Letters Dance Visiting Residency

CONTRA-TIEMPO is a bold Los Angeles-based dance theater company that creates communities where all people are awakened to a sense of themselves as artists and social change agents who move through the world with compassion, confidence and joy.

During the visiting residency, CONTRA-TIEMPO artists will lead intensive workshops for dance students and the greater Tampa Bay community, guiding them through the creative process behind the Roots of Loving Us production while teaching moving practices that center around storytelling, trust and collaboration. The residency will culminate in a public performance of the Roots of Loving Us at the University of Tampa featuring CONTRA-TIEMPO dancers performing alongside UTampa students.

For University of Tampa students, this visiting residency represents an invaluable learning opportunity. They will receive direct mentorship from professional artists recognized for their excellence, innovation and commitment to meaningful art making. The experience will broaden their perspective on the global dance landscape and help them understand how artistic expression can foster communication, self-discovery and positive change.

For the broader Tampa Bay community, the residency offers accessible workshops and performances that celebrate shared human experience.
