Our content-based tutors help students better understand course content. Peer tutors provide support through drop-in tutoring and scheduled appointments. Ideal candidates must be dependable and have a firm knowledge of the content they want to tutor.
Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- AB or above in courses that are tutored
- 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must have taken the course(s) at UTampa

Desk assistants are the first faces that you see when you enter the Learning Resources Center (LRC), so being assertive, along with good customer service and problem-solving skills, are essential. Desk assistants are responsible for checking in students and peer staff for drop-in sessions, making sure that the LRC is running efficiently and assisting any visitors by being able to answer questions about peer support services.
Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- 2.7 cumulative GPA
Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) help students learn strategies to achieve academic success to empower them to take ownership of their academics and develop essential skills to succeed. PALs help students tap into their strengths, develop a growth mindset and take actionable steps to reach their full potential. Ideal candidates must be assertive, organized, emphatic and have great interpersonal skills.
Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- Must have an earned 3.0 or better cumulative GPA
- Must commit to working 2 consecutive semesters (fall-spring, spring-fall)
- Must work at least 10 hours per week

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized program that provides academic support to historically difficult courses. Like their peers, SI leaders attend class and then host weekly group tutor sessions to help students to better understand course content. SI leaders also share learning and study strategies with students designed to help retain and apply information. Ideal candidates must have a firm knowledge of the course content along with great interpersonal, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
- AB or above in courses that are tutored
- 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must have an instructor
Graduate Student Workers (GSWs) supervise the front desk assistants and are responsible for the daily operations in the Learning Resources Center.
Ideal candidates for this position can work 20 hours a week, which includes at least one night shift (Monday-Thursday 4-9 p.m.) and alternating Sunday shifts (from 12-4 p.m.) Ideal candidates are assertive, have great attention to detail, are proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and are comfortable managing undergraduate students.
Minimum requirements to apply:
- Must be in good academic standing in your graduate program
- Must be able to work 18-20 hours per week
