The University of Tampa’s Office of Human Resources has partnered with The Work Number® from Equifax, an independent service, to provide secure, automated employment and income verifications for current and previous faculty, staff and student employees.
UTampa employees can now provide The Work Number website, www.theworknumber.com, when applying for a loan, buying a car, leasing an apartment or similar instances where proof of employment or income is needed.
The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days per week, making it faster for University employees to have their income verified for credit rapidly and easily, even on weekends or during evening hours, often without the need to provide further cumbersome paper documentation to lenders or other service providers.
To use The Work Number service, visit www.theworknumber.com.
If you’re asked for proof of employment or income from an external verifier, you may provide them with:
- Your employer code: 10923245
- Your social security number
- The link to The Work Number: www.theworknumber.com
If this is your first time accessing The Work Number, follow the steps below:
- Visit The Work Number's employee login page.
- Click Log In.
- Enter your employer’s code 10923245 and click Log In.
- Enter your Social Security Number and click Continue.
- Enter your default PIN*: last 4 digits of SSN + YYYY of birth and click Log In.
You may access a copy of your Employment Data Report (EDR) once per year to find out what The Work Number shares with verifiers.
To view your Employment Data Report, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your employee account at www.theworknumber.com
- Click Request Instant Online Report.
- Select the state you are employed in.
- Select a reason for your request.
- Select whether to show your full social security number on the report or mask it.
- Click Get Instant Online Report.
For added protection, you may provide verifiers with a salary key for one-time access to your data.
To generate a salary key, follow the steps below:
- Log in to your employee account at www.theworknumber.com.
- Click Prove Income to Verifiers.
- Click Create Salary Key.
- Click New Salary Key.
- The new salary key can be printed or emailed with instructions for the verifier to use through The Work Number. Alternatively, the salary key itself can be provided to the verifier along with your employer name or code 10923245 and your Social Security Number.
Note: At any point, select the Salary Key Activity link to view the status of any keys you’ve created (used, unused, expired).
