Off-Campus Residences and Student Organizations

The University arranges for student housing in off-campus hotel properties when demand for campus housing exceeds available on-campus space. During the 2006 academic year, the Ashley Plaza Hotel was used during spring semester, and the Hyatt Regency Tampa was used during fall semester. Both hotels maintain their own security personnel and work cooperatively with UT’s Department of Campus Safety and Security.

During the 2009-2010 academic year, the Howard Johnson Hotel is been used to house students. The hotel maintains its own security personnel and works cooperatively with UT’s Department of Campus Safety and Security.

The Department of Campus Safety and Security does not patrol or provide security services at the Marine Science Center. All emergencies and crimes in progress should be reported to the Tampa Police Department at 911 or (813) 276-3200. As a follow-up to the reporting action with TPD, UT’s Department of Campus Safety and Security should be notified to assist in accurately compiling the University’s annual crime statistics.
