The John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Sykes College of Business teaches skills that are critical for today’s entrepreneur.

The University of Tampa’s Spartan Incubator, which is open to entrepreneurs with fledgling businesses in the Tampa Bay region, is currently taking applications.

The Spartan Incubator is located in UT’s John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Sykes College of Business. The program pairs participants with a team of experts to help them launch their current startup to a full-grown business. Incubator companies engage in Lowth Entrepreneurship Center activity and network with the Tampa Bay ecosystem.

The incubator, which opened four years ago, is open to anyone in the region, and includes nine resident companies as well as nine others that are off-site and participate in incubator activities without having dedicated space in the facility.

Recent incubator graduates include Signature Lacrosse, a lacrosse equipment company; Natural Nipple, which designs customizable baby bottles; Fruutfull, which newly patented a bra; and ADventure, a digital marketing agency.

Successful applicants for the incubator should be coachable, willing to work with students and have a business that would be a good fit for the space.

There’s no cost to participate in the incubator. Applications are due Aug. 1, and participants will be selected by mid-August. To apply, visit
