From April 21–24, The University of Tampa will stage the award-winning musical Dogfight. Show times are 8 p.m. on Thursday–Saturday, April 21–23, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 24. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.
The musical begins on the evening of Nov. 21, 1963. Three young Marines who are scheduled to ship out to Vietnam in the morning set out for a final night of debauchery in San Francisco. But when Cpl. Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion.
Dogfight is an adaptation of Nancy Savoca’s 1991 film of the same name, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Peter Duchan.
The production features a cast of 11 UT students under the direction of Michael Staczar, chair/associate professor of speech/theatre and dance.
Admission is free for UT students, faculty and staff with valid UT identification. General admission tickets are $15, senior citizens and non-UT students may purchase tickets for $10. For more information, call (813) 253-6243.
