Teaching Science in the Elementary School
Michele Wiehagen is a dynamic educational leader specializing in STEM curriculum development, standards-aligned instructional design, and data-driven professional learning. With more than 26 years of experience spanning Pre-K through adult education, she is recognized for building scalable STEM programs, coaching educators through implementation cycles, and aligning tools, resources, and instructional practices to district and organizational goals. Her expertise includes K–5 science and STEM curriculum design, educational product integration, national professional development facilitation, and partnership development across school districts, universities, and industry. As a district resource teacher, adjunct instructor, and national trainer, she is skilled at translating research-based pedagogy into engaging learning experiences, supporting system-wide instructional improvement, and leading community-connected STEM initiatives that expand access, equity, and innovation in science education.
Michele Wiehagen is actively engaged in professional andcommunity leadership roles that advance STEM education atthe local, state, and national levels. She serves as a national professional development coach and master trainer formultiple educational organizations, delivering workshops, webinars, and conference sessions focused onstandards-aligned STEM implementation and instructional bestpractices. Her professional service includes leadership and membership in organizations such as the National Science Education Leaders Association, the National Science Teachers Association, the Florida Association of Science Supervisors, and the Hillsborough Association of Elementary Science Teachers, where she has held roles as presenter, board member, president, and event coordinator. She contributes to state wide and national initiatives supporting equity and excellence in science education, participates on state standards and assessment teams, and collaborates with industry partners, universities, and community organizations to design authentic learning experiences. In addition, she plans and coordinates large-scale community STEM events for students, families, and educators, strengthening partnerships that connect schools with real-world science, engineering, andinnovation opportunities
