Career Specialties

Stephanie Watkins, DHSc, has been a full-time and adjunct professor for thirteen years, with responsibilities ranging from program coordination to planning and development at multiple educational levels and institutions. Watkins strives to focus on curriculum development with a foundation in theoretical underpinnings while maintaining a student-centered approach. During her time as an educator, Watkins has held dual positions as faculty and administration, allowing her to mentor and teach students while serving the university. Watkins has held active roles in multiple committees with the goal of ensuring the College of Health Science faculty and students are adequately represented. 

Professional and Community Activities

Stephanie Watkins is an active member of the American Public Health Association. She has also completed the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Online Learning Environment, Designing Student-Centered Courses, Inclusive Teaching, and Equitable Learning, Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Life Long Learnings, and Promoting Active Learning Micro-credential. Along with being a dedicated learner of the online environment, Watkins has also earned the credential for the Quality Matters Higher Education Seventh Edition Rubric Certificate. An avid user of multiple learning management systems, Watkins has recently earned a badge for becoming a Canvas Certified Educator. While not yet published, Watkins is actively researching pre/post-pandemic methodologies that could improve public health prevention practices.
