Career Specialties

Torres academic interests include pediatric nursing, clinical decision-making, and engaging and innovating teaching strategies such as gamification and experiential learning to improve critical thinking in nursing students. She is particularly passionate about helping students build confidence in applying evidence-based care through engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Professional and Community Activities

Torres scholarly work focuses on nursing education, particularly the integration of gamification, experiential learning, and clinical decision-making models to enhance student engagement and competency. She recently completed a project that incorporates interactive activities in post-clinical conferences to promote critical thinking and clinical judgment. This work was selected for poster presentation at the 2025 Nurse Educators Conference in the Rockies.

Torres remains engaged in the community as a pediatric nurse practitioner with a focus on increasing access to care through mobile pediatric services. She also serves on the board of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of NAPNAP, where she contributes to professional development, advocacy, and community-based pediatric initiatives.
