The Innovative Educator
Instructional Laboratory
Storch's professional interests focus on enhancing teacher preparedness and efficacy in delivering effective curricula and behavior strategies for students with diverse abilities in general education settings.
Storch's research interests focus on teacher efficacy and preparedness in special education, particularly how training and support influence educators' confidence and effectiveness in meeting diverse student needs. She is interested in exploring the relationship between teacher preparation programs and their impact on inclusive instructional practices. In addition, Jill aims to investigate systemic barriers and professional development models that support sustained growth in special education teaching competence.
Storch's activism and consultation as a parent advocate for children with diverse abilities is another area of research interest. Her current work with families focuses on navigating educational systems and teams to secure appropriate services and supports. JIll aims to examine the factors that empower or hinder effective advocacy, including socioeconomic status, cultural background, and access to information. This work seeks to inform policies and practices that promote equitable partnerships between families and schools.
Storch remains deeply connected with local schools, teachers and educational leaders as an executive board member for my childrens' Parent Teacher Student Associations (PTSA) at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Through this community work, I aim to foster belongingness for all teachers, students, families and caregivers.
