Parker Sheppard began his career in Campus Recreation working as a student employee and co-founder of the Club Sport Council and the Club Swim team at Nova Southeastern University. He began his career in aquatics working as a lifeguard and swim instructor in many capacities between 2012 and 2015. In 2015 Sheppard became a seasonal summertime pool manager and head swim coach at a country club in his hometown. He pursued his master's degree and took a position as the graduate assistant for aquatics at the University of North Texas. He then became the aquatics manager at the University of Miami where he worked for two years. Sheppard is currently the associate director of aquatics and safety at the beautiful new Riseman Aquatic Center at UT where he is focused on providing opportunities to empower students through learning, teaching and life-saving techniques.
Sheppard is a Certified Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer through the American Red Cross, a Certified Pool Operator through the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance, and an Aquatic Facility Operator through the National Recreation and Park Association. He is also currently pursuing his Ph.D. through Clemson University in parks, recreation and tourism management with a focus in campus recreation, campus well-being and enrollment.
