Professional and Community Activities

Romano specializes in educational measurement, statistical analysis, and institutional research with over two decades of experience in higher education. Her work spans psychometrics, assessment theory, and international education reform, and includes award-winning research on reliability, effect size, and data-informed decision making. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, developed widely used statistical tools, and presented her work at major global conferences. She has participated in over 80 research conference presentations. Her work has been published in the Journal of Experimental Education, Journal of Educational and Psychological Measurement, Journal of College Student Development, and Internet and Higher Education. 

Romano has a long-standing commitment to service and global engagement and restorative justice, including her current role as Secretary of the Board of Directors for Just Initiative and her commissioning as an ELCA Parish Deacon. She has participated in international education and mission work across Cuba, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, and is a founding member of the Middle East North Africa Association for Institutional Research (MENA-AIR). In addition to her leadership roles, she has contributed extensively as a reviewer for educational research conferences and journals.

Honors and Awards

In 2000, Jeanine Romano was recognized by The University of Tampa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with two awards: Outstanding Contribution to the Baccalaureate Experience and Outstanding Contribution to Working with Students.

She has been nominated for the Florida Educational Research Association’s distinguished paper award six times and has won this award both in 2004 and 2006. She was also the recipient of the 2007 Florida Association of Institutional Research Best Paper award.
