Career Specialties

Christy Paris specializes in modern and contemporary art, art theory, gender and museum studies and practices. Her research explores artivism (art + activism) and integrating inclusivity, diversity and accessibility into art educational settings. 

Professional and Community Activities

Christy Paris’ research and writing explores the impact of inclusive approaches to art- and museum-based education through artivism. With over two decades of teaching experience, Paris has employed object-centered and student-centered pedagogies to enhance critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in the classroom.

Paris has worked extensively in museums and has curated, co-curated, and been a juror on several exhibitions, with a focus on gender, sexuality, identity, inclusivity and equitable representation. 

Paris has sponsored student-led art clubs, held leadership positions in several organizations, and taught in Europe for art history study abroad programs over the years. Community, service and activism are at the heart of Paris’ teaching and professional practices.
