Career Specialties
June Llerena’s interests are simulation based health education and nursing education. Her nursing specialties are in trauma critical care and emergency nursing.
Professional and Community Activities
Llerena is currently a doctoral student at The Catholic University of America, interested in qualitative research. Her dissertation research is on the lived experience of combat medics transitioning into a baccalaureate nursing program.
As an educator, she has an interest in simulation techniques and research. She has collaborated with local clinical nurse educators to use simulation as a method empower nursing students to reduce medication interruptions and promote safe medication administration practices within a hospital settings. This work has been presented internationally in Toronto, Canada, at the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation Learning (INACSL) Annual Conference in 2018.
As an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, Llerena has served our local chapter Delta Beta at Large since 2012. Currently, she is the chapter's president.
