The Spring Dance Happening, an annual event sponsored by The University of Tampa’s dance program, will be held Wednesday, April 24-Friday, April 26. All performances will be at 8 p.m. at UT’s Falk Theatre on Kennedy Boulevard, opposite campus. The event is free and open to the public. 

The Spring Dance Happening highlights the vast talents of student performers at UT. The evening will be filled with student choreographed and performed works that showcase a variety of dance styles and genres.

Kareem Khubchandani, professor, author and performance artist, will present In Search of a Desi Drag Queen at The University of Tampa as part of the Honors Symposium on Thursday, April 18. The presentation will begin at 8 p.m. in the Crescent Club on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center and is free and open to the public. 

Khubchandani is a Mellon Bridge assistant professor at Tufts University in the Department of Drama and Dance. He also teaches within the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department. His research, performance and teaching interests include dance studies, queer nightlife, South Asian diaspora, global queer politics, performance ethnography, critical race studies and drag.

The University of Tampa’s Faculty Woodwind Trio will perform on Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. The recital is held in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values and is free and open to the public. 

The Faculty Woodwind Trio is comprised of Barbara Prescott, flute; Maurizio Venturini, bassoon; and Grigorios Zamparas, piano. The trio will perform a program of chamber music for flute, bassoon and piano.
