Students Assist Professor in Green Tea–related Cancer Study

Michael Carastro ’94, associate professor of biochemistry, along with Dr. Jong Park, with Moffitt Cancer Center, are studying the prostate-cancer-fighting effects of green tea. Carastro is utilizing the assistance of several UT students at a time in helping conduct the research. Lab studies are currently underway to determine if Polyphenon E, a component of green tea, has benefits for suppressing the growth of prostate cancer cells in humans.
