UT Presents Thoroughly Modern Millie Nov. 21–23

Take a laugh-filled journey back to the roaring ’20s at The University of Tampa’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie Nov. 21–24. Show times are 8 p.m. Nov. 21–23 and 2 p.m. Nov. 24. All performances will be in Falk Theatre, located at 428 W. Kennedy Blvd.

Thoroughly Modern Millie presents the story of Milllie Dillmount, who heads to New York City in 1922 with the “thoroughly modern” goal of marrying her wealthy boss. Millie decides to put her old fashioned ways behind her and take on the flapper-girl lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring.

This Tony award-winning musical is based on the 1967 film starring Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Channing and Beatrice Lilly.

The production is the debut of the UT theater department’s newest faculty member, Paul Finocchiaro, assistant professor of theatre, who serves as director and choreographer. Thoroughly Modern Millie features a cast of 25 students. Set, lighting and sound were designed by Alex Amyot, technical production coordinator, and costume design is provided by Frank Chavez.

Admission is free for UT students, faculty and staff. General admission tickets are $15, senior citizens and non-UT students may purchase tickets for $10. For more information, contact Finocchiaro at pfinocchiaro@ut.edu or (813) 253-6243.

The show is sponsored by UT’s Department of Speech, Theatre and Dance.
