UT Panhellenic Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

The University of Tampa College Panhellenic Association was one of 18 universities nationwide to be recognized for its achievement in advancing UT’s sorority experience by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC).

The College Panhellenic Achievement Award only recognizes College Panhellenics that meet the criteria for at least five of the following areas: academics, communication with NPC area advisor, judicial procedures, community impact and relations, programming, structure and recruitment.

There are more than 650 College Panhellenic Associations across the country. This is the first time UT has received this recognition. Other universities that were recognized for achievement included Florida Atlantic University, Auburn University, University of Washington and Ohio University.

Frances Mitchelson, NPC Panhellenic chairman, said the recognized associations have excelled in all areas. “We are proud of their hard work and dedication to upholding high standards for their College Panhellenic and ensuring the sorority experience is beneficial for all members on their campus,” she said.

NPC, one of the largest advocacy and support organizations for women, has recognized student-led College Panhellenic associations with awards for more than 50 years.

UT’s College Panhellenic Association governs the NPC organizations recognized at UT. The NPC encompasses 26 (inter)national women’s sororities, with seven of those organizations currently active on UT’s campus. More than 1,000 UT women are members of an NPC sorority. The College Panhellenic Association strives to empower women through innovative programming and leadership opportunities.
