Three UT Alumni Authors Return to Campus for Writers at the University April 18

On Tuesday, April 18, The University of Tampa’s Writers at the University series will welcome three alumni authors — Mackenzie Carignan ’98, Adrienne Nadeau ’07 and Derrick Austin ’14 — who will give readings and participate in a Q-and-A. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery on campus, 310 North Blvd., and is free and open to the public.

Carignan is the author of a full-length poetry collection, a house without a roof is open to the stars, and her chapbooks include Metaphors for Miscarriage, The Listening Lost and &persona among others. She lives in Denver, where she is a curriculum developer for Oracle.

Nadeau, who by day works as a project manager at Datassential in Chicago, is a nationally known slam poet. Her work has been featured in The Legendary, a Chicago e-zine, and Button Poetry. Her chapbook, Haters on the Train Won’t Stop Me from Wearing Mini Dresses and Listening to Trap Music, was published in 2015.

Austin is the author of Trouble the Water (BOA Editions, 2016), selected by Mary Szybist for the 2015 A. Poulin Jr. Prize. A Cave Canem fellow, he serves as the 2016-2017 Ron Wallace Poetry Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan.
