CEO of Raymond James Bank to Speak at UT Feb. 18

Steven Raney, CEO of Raymond James Bank, will speak at The University of Tampa on Monday, Feb. 18. The event begins at 8:30 p.m. in the Vaughn Center Board Room on campus and is free and open to the public.

During his talk, Raney will touch on what students should do to prepare for their career, what Raymond James looks for on a resume and the importance of investing money. A Q-and-A session will follow his talk.

Students with an interest in finance and investment are encouraged to attend. The event has been approved for one practicum point.

A Tampa native, Raney has worked in the area’s banking community since 1988. In addition to serving as president and CEO of Raymond James Bank, he serves on the board of Raymond James Trust Company and is one of the firm’s representatives on the Financial Services Roundtable, an industry leadership group of the 100 largest financial services firms in the U.S.

Raney worked for Bank of America for 17 years prior to joining Raymond James Bank in 2006, and also spent a year working at LCM Group, a Tampa-based investment and private equity firm.

Raney’s talk is sponsored by The University of Tampa chapter of the Financial Management Association International. The mission of the Financial Management Association is to promote the development and understanding of high quality basic and applied research of sound financial practices. Membership in this organization is open to all students.
