Ambassador from Liechtenstein to Speak at UT Today

Claudia Fritsche, the ambassador of the Principality of Liechtenstein, will be speaking on campus today (March 17) about Liechtenstein’s role in the global economy, international relations and its initiatives with the United Nations in areas of human rights and international law.

The presentation, part of the University’s Honors Symposia series, will take place in Fletcher Lounge in Plant Hall starting at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

During the lecture, Fritsche will describe the nation of Liechtenstein and explain the nation’s role in international relations. The Permanent Mission of Liechtenstein to the United Nations participates in particular in multilateral processes and negotiations in the areas of UN reform, human rights, international law and the rule of law, international criminal law and humanitarian efforts.

Fritsche is the first resident ambassador of Liechtenstein in Washington, D.C., a position she has held since 2002. She previously served as the permanent representative of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the United Nations from 1990 to 2002. She first joined the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein in 1978 and has served in a variety of diplomatic functions.
