The Department of Campus Safety advises that:

UT is urging students to continue to be extra vigilant and careful as they venture on and off campus. Last night, a homicide occurred in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood, which is approximately five miles north of campus. Tampa Police Department (TDP) believes the incident may be linked to the three homicides that occurred in approximately the same area in October. Students are encouraged to increase their personal safety by:

  • Traveling in large groups, if possible.
  • Reporting immediately any unusual behavior or suspicious persons to UT Campus Safety or TPD (call 9-1-1 or for non-emergencies (813) 231-6130).
  • Being vigilant and aware of your surroundings, on and off campus.
For more information, see the TPD website at www.tampagov.net/police.

Please report any information about this or any other incident, safety issue or crime to:
Department of Campus Safety
820 W. North A Street
From on campus: extension 7777
From off-campus or a cell phone: (813) 257-7777
