Minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies

The Minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies is an interdisciplinary course of study that incorporates a broad range of liberal arts activities – reading, writing, thinking and discussion – in order to teach a fuller understanding of the embodied lives of people.

Students in the program seek to explore the ways that gender and sexuality are affected by factors such as race, class, religion, age, region, historical period, political and economic structures, cultural contexts and social systems. The curriculum balances academic rigor with emphasis on social justice and community.

• Social construction of gender, sex and sexuality
• Discrimination, privilege and systemic inequality
• Intersectionality
• Analytical frameworks including feminist, queer and disability theories
• Transnational feminisms
