The 2013-2014 Writers at the University series at The University of Tampa continues Tuesday, Jan. 28, with poet Joseph Millar. Millar will give a reading from his latest collection of poetry,
Blue Rust, in the Vaughn Center Crescent Club at 7 p.m. The reading is free and open to the public.
Millar has received fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as a 2008 Pushcart Prize. His poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, including
DoubleTake,
TriQuarterly,
The Southern Review,
APR and
Ploughshares.
Millar grew up in Pennsylvania and studied at Johns Hopkins University. He spent 25 years in the San Francisco Bay area working at a variety of jobs, from telephone repairman to commercial fisherman. He now teaches in Pacific University’s low-residency MFA program.
