The world-famous Stämpfli Express, known as the world’s longest racing shell with 24 seats, 48 oars and measured at more than 144 feet, will be docked at The University of Tampa crew dock on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Those interested in viewing the boat and perhaps taking a ride are welcome between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. both days.
The Swiss vessel, which equals in size to that of a grown whale and its infant, is currently making its first tour across the United States.
According to UT crew coach Bill Dunlap, the shell is very stable and even inexperienced rowers can have a great time in the boat.
“While some may not be interested in taking a crack at getting into the boat, it is definitely a sight worth seeing,” Dunlap said.
Parking is available on the UT campus, on UT University Drive between McKay Hall and the Macdonald-Kelce Library.
