UT’s Writers at the University Offers Readings by Jessica Anthony, Frank Gaspar Oct. 12
On Friday, Oct. 12, The University of Tampa will welcome authors Jessica Anthony and Frank X. Gaspar for a reading in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, 310 N. Boulevard. The reading, part of the University’s Writers at the University series as well as the Other Words Literary Conference being held on the UT campus Oct. 11–13, begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Anthony is the author of The Convalescent, an American Library Association Adult Notable Book and a Barnes and Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, as well as Chopsticks, a multimedia novel on which she collaborated with designer Rodrigo Corral. Chopsticks was called a “21st century novel” by the Los Angeles Times, was an Amazon Book of the Month and also won App of the Year. Currently, Anthony teaches in UT's low-residency MFA in Creative Writing program.
Gaspar is the author of five collections of poetry and two novels, implementing American themes or settings, particularly the Portuguese community in Provincetown, MA, where he was raised, offering an insider’s view of the rich ethnic base of the Cape Cod town. His debut novel, Leaving Pico, was a Barnes and Noble Discovery Prize winner, won the California Book Award for First Fiction and a New York Times Notable Book. His second novel, Stealing Fatima, won MassBook of the Year in Fiction.
