On Monday, April 30, The University of Tampa will host the Camerata and Chamber Singers spring concert in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The program will feature portions of a choral masterworks concert performed earlier in the semester in coordination with Tampa Bay’s Lumina Youth Choirs, including selections from György Orbán's
Mass No. 6 for women's voices, and Leonard Bernstein's
Chichester Psalms. Additionally, the program will feature renaissance madrigals, a selection of rousing spirituals and several contemporary compositions.
The concert will be conducted by director of Camerata Singers and Women’s Glee Club Rodney Shores, and will be accompanied by UT music faculty member Dale Williams.
Camerata Singers is an auditioned, select women’s ensemble, and the UT Chamber Singers is an auditioned, select soprano-alto-tenor-bass chorus, and is the flagship choral ensemble of UT. Both groups are musical ambassadors both on and off campus.
