On Saturday, Aug. 27, University of Tampa students will start the academic year off by giving back to the Tampa Bay community during the University’s annual day of service, Into the Streets.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, University of Tampa students will start the academic year off by giving back to the Tampa Bay community during the University’s annual day of service, Into the Streets. The event is scheduled from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., and volunteers will gather in the Martinez Athletics Center before loading into buses to volunteer at one of several sites in the community.
“I feel it is important for our UT community to start the semester off with service, because it brings individuals together in order to make a difference in the community we live in,” said Jennifer Sanchez ’17, student coordinator for the PEACE Volunteer Center, who is helping to organize the event.
Into the Streets is a UT tradition and is open to all students, faculty and staff. Organizers have space for 470 participants.
“Participating in Into the Streets enhances the student experience by getting them out of their comfort zones, showing them the types of social issues that can be addressed in our community and providing them with a chance to give back,” said Sanchez.
