UT Researchers Study Spine Issues Plaguing Captive Sharks

University of Tampa assistant professor of biology, Daniel Huber, and his research assistant, UT senior Danielle Noaker, discuss their research on sand tiger sharks held in captivity. These sharks are known to develop spinal issues that lead to problems with swimming and therefore breathing. Huber hopes this research will discover why the spinal issues are occurring and how to prevent them. Dr. Huber's research is part of a collaborative project with The Florida Aquarium Center for Conservation and other partners. To learn more about the project, please visit The Florida Aquarium's Web page on the the study.Huber and Noaker discuss the research in this video feature.
