Charity Navigator’s seventh consecutive annual awarding of The University of Tampa with a 4-star rating for fiscal management — the highest a charity can receive — puts UT within the top 2 percent of charities that Charity Navigator ranks.
According to Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher, UT’s sustained and “coveted” ranking indicates that it “outperforms most other charities in America.”
“Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that your organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” Thatcher said. “This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The University of Tampa from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
Charity Navigator, which bills itself as America's largest charity evaluator, highlights the work of charities and provides donors with essential information needed to give them greater confidence in the charitable choices they make.
Gary Grant, UT vice president for development and university relations, was pleased to receive the designation.
“There are many measurements by which we define our success internally, but it is high praise to receive the 4-star rating, seven years in a row, from an organization that is comparing and evaluating thousands of charities throughout the country,” Grant said.
