UT Named a Finalist for Engaged Campus Award

The University of Tampa has been named one of two finalists for the Engaged Campus Award for independent colleges by the Florida Campus Compact.

The finalists have been recognized for their outstanding service, engaged scholarship and exemplary commitment to being an “engaged campus.” The award winners will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in Orlando at the DoubleTree Hotel Universal. Senators Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson are the honorary co-hosts for the gala.

The other finalist in the independent sector is Ringling College of Art. In the public college sector, Florida Community College at Jacksonville and Hillsborough Community College were named, and Florida State University and University of Central Florida were recognized as finalists in the state university sector.

There will be one winner from each sector, but one of those three winners will be the overall statewide winner. Last year, Rollins College was the overall statewide winner, as well as the winner in the independent sector.

Florida Campus Compact works with colleges and universities in our state to promote the scholarship of engagement through research, academically rigorous service learning, campus-community collaboration, civic engagement and collegiate volunteerism.
