UT Faculty, Jeff Vinik to Discuss State of the Tampa Bay Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Nov. 14

Local investor Jeff Vinik will join Rebecca White, director of UT’s Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, for a fireside chat at this year’s State of the Tampa Bay Entrepreneurial Ecosystem event.

The Kauffman Foundation research was a year-long project that yielded a model for strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems in Tampa Bay and other cities nationwide.

Local investor Jeff Vinik will join Rebecca White, director of UT’s Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, for a fireside chat at this year’s State of the Tampa Bay Entrepreneurial Ecosystem event.
The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 2:30 p.m. in the Sykes College of Business Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Daly Innovation and Collaboration Building on UT’s campus.
Vinik, a former hedge fund manager who owns the Tampa Bay Lightning, has been a leader in the effort in downtown Tampa to develop Water Street Tampa.
Additionally, Speros Margetis, UT professor of finance, and Thomas Pittz, UT assistant professor of management, will join White in reporting on the growth and progress of Tampa Bay’s entrepreneurial energy. They will also compare today’s ecosystem to the findings of the original Kauffman Foundation study three years ago.
The Kauffman Foundation research was a year-long project that yielded a model for strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems in Tampa Bay and other cities nationwide. The project was spearheaded by White, along with a team of professors across the nation, and included in-depth surveys of entrepreneurs and their businesses in Tampa Bay.
