UT Cybersecurity Program Receives Scholarship Donation

Palm Harbor resident Tom Tiedemann has made supporting UT’s cybersecurity program a top priority by providing scholarships for students majoring in cybersecurity.
“I was so impressed with the University’s new cybersecurity program – I had never heard of a university offering such an innovative program as this,” said Tiedemann, a retired engineer. “It’s a job for the future. The need for cybersecurity will just continue to escalate.”
Although Tiedemann is not a University of Tampa alumnus, he does believe it’s important to give back to the community and support local education. As such, he initiated the Tom A. Tiedemann Endowed Scholarship for UT students majoring in cybersecurity, which is a part of the Sykes College of Business. “I like the idea that my endowed scholarship will support UT students for many years to come,” he added.
Ken Knapp, director of UT’s cybersecurity program, said the scholarship is great news for UT students and for the Tampa Bay community. “We will use these resources well to attract talented students who will become our next generation of cybersecurity professionals,” Knapp said.
