The University of Tampa’s chapter of the professional business
fraternity Delta Sigma Pi was named the most outstanding chapter for the
southern province at the Leadership and Excellence Academies for
Deltasigs (LEAD) conference in Tampa in late October.
This designation places the UT chapter, Epsilon Rho, as one of the top five chapters in the country out of approximately 300.
The chapter was also recognized as the most improved chapter and the most outstanding chapter for the South Atlantic Region.
In
addition, chapter advisor Jim Lee, UT assistant professor of marketing,
was awarded the south Atlantic and southern province chapter advisor of
the year.
Throughout the year, the UT chapter hosted numerous
professional events, including programs with the University’s Office of
Career Services. The chapter also participates in community service
efforts and in campus programming.
Delta Sigma Pi is a
professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in
universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the
association of students for their mutual advancement by research and
practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and
students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial
ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the
community.
