The University of Tampa baseball team will compete for its third
straight national championship following a win Sunday in the South
Region championship.
A 9-8 win over Catawba on Sunday gave the Spartans the victory they needed to advance to the Div. II World Series.
This week the team will travel to GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL to compete in the series, scheduled to take place May 25-31.
A victory in the championship would secure UT a place in NCAA history
as the first Div. II team to win three straight national championships.
The two time defending national champions are seeking their sixth NCAA
baseball title overall.
With a record of 42-9-1, UT will begin
play Sunday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m. EST against the winning team of the
North Central Region.
Live stats and an audio webcast will be available for all UT games via the UT Athletics Web site,
www.tampaspartans.com.
