Gina Firth, associate dean of students at The University of Tampa, will
be recognized at the Gasparilla Parade safety initiative appreciation
event sponsored by the Tampa Alcohol Coalition.
The event will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. at the Brevard Hall community room at UT.
Firth
coordinated the Tampa Police Department's “Responsibility and Respect”
Gasparilla presentation and helped create and disseminate an educational
campaign regarding responsible behavior and respect during Gasparilla
for the collegiate Tampa Bay Community.
Bruce Grant, director of
the Governor's Office of Drug Control, will present certificates of
appreciation to Firth and other key leaders and organizations that
worked together to improve the safety of the parade, especially those
who helped reduce underage drinking and alcohol-related incidents at
Gasparilla.
Other individuals receiving recognition include
Assistant Chief Marc Hamlin of the Tampa Police Department, Bill
Gieseking of Pepin Distributing Company and Jim Tarbet and Jim Robbins
of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla.
