Joanne B. Sullivan, formerly the executive director of the Foundation at Florida Hospital Tampa, has been named by The University of Tampa as associate vice president for development in the Office of Development and University Relations.
At UT, Sullivan will assist the vice president for Development and University Relations in ensuring that the activity within the office is aligned and integrated in support of the University’s mission. Sullivan will oversee prospect research, major gifts and planned giving.
Sullivan said she looks forward to contributing to UT’s educational mission, and supporting her colleagues and the University's students in their endeavors.
"I am excited to be given the opportunity to serve The University of Tampa in a development role,” Sullivan said. “The University has a long, rich history of support from the UT community, and I look forward to working with donors to help achieve their — and the University’s — long-term goals.”
Prior to working at the Foundation at Florida Hospital Tampa, Sullivan worked in development and public relations positions for Academy at the Lakes, Tampa Museum of Art, Berkeley Preparatory School and Chenoweth Ellis Faulkner Diaz. Sullivan also served as a seventh grade teacher at Sligh Junior High Seventh Grade Center.
Over the years, Sullivan has served as a member of the American Red Cross-Tampa Chapter, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Easter Seals, Florida Council of Independent Schools, Franciscan Center Board and the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. She is currently a finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journal 2012 BusinessWoman of the Year Award.
Dan Gura, UT vice president for Development and University Relations, said UT is fortunate to have attracted such an accomplished and experienced fundraising professional who has served many nonprofits in the Tampa Bay area.
“Our development staff, and the The University of Tampa as a whole, will certainly benefit from Joanne’s experience and knowledge of fundraising, as well as her connections in the Tampa Bay area,” said Gura.
Sullivan received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, and is a certified fundraising executive (CFRE).
Sullivan will begin at UT on Aug. 6.
