The fully responsive, vibrant website strengthens UT’s online presence and marks a dramatic improvement in the appearance, navigability and functionality of the University’s website, especially on tablet and mobile devices.

The development of the new website was coordinated by the Office of Public Information and Publications, in conjunction with the Office of Information Technology. A committee with representatives from academic, student affairs, admissions, alumni affairs, information technology and administrative areas drove the redesign, a process that began more than a year ago. Usability studies and additional research with current and prospective students and families was conducted, with results driving the new content and design.

“We recognize that the website is many people’s first impression of UT, and that an attractive and functional website is critical to maintaining our competitive position and spurring interest in the University,” said Eric Cardenas, director of public information and publications. “We are excited to introduce this new front door to our University.”

New features to note in the redesigned site include:
  • Fully responsive website
  • Powerful imagery gives users a better feel for being on campus
  • Content focus on experiential education
  • Quick facts easily accessible
  • Streamlined navigation
  • Integration of social media and video throughout
UT’s website had last been redesigned about four years ago. The new site received front- end design by St. Petersburg-based firm Big Sea Design, and UT partnered with the Chicago-based firm WebSolutions Technology for development assistance.
