On Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:15 p.m., The University of Tampa’s honors symposia series will continue with a panel of speakers from the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) to discuss what goes into producing the third oldest film festival in Florida. The discussion, titled Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Adapts to the Digital Age, will be in the Vaughn Center’s Reeves Theater and is free and open to the public.
Speakers include Margaret Murray, festival executive director; Renee Cossette, festival director; and Honors Program alumnus Christian Reich ’14, who will discuss how a changing audience during the age of digital media has altered the festival landscape.
TIGLFF began in 1990 through the outreach of several local community-based organizations and is now produced by the nonprofit organization Friends of the Festival Inc. The organization’s mission is “to continually showcase selections of compelling film and relevant digital media that entertain, empower and enlighten a diverse audience by, for or regarding the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community and its supporters through the sharing of personal experiences surrounding thoughtful discussion.”
