The University of Tampa will display the artwork of local high school
students May 16-29 in the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery. The public is
invited to a reception in the gallery on Friday, May 16, from 7-9 p.m.
High School Arts 2008 features juried student artwork from both public
and private high schools throughout Hillsborough County. The University
has sponsored the art show since 1982, and each year at least 800
entries are submitted, from which approximately 100 are chosen by the
UT fine arts faculty.
The best of show winner is awarded a UT
scholarship for $10,000. Five individual students also will receive
$100 awards for their outstanding work. The winners will be announced
at the opening reception.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4
p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is
free. For more information, contact Dorothy Cowden, gallery director,
