Head of Verizon Wireless’ Florida Region to Speak at UT Oct. 3

The president of the Florida Region for Verizon Wireless, the nation’s largest wireless communications services provider, will visit The University of Tampa Wednesday, Oct. 3, to share her insights on the fundamentals of leadership with students.

Pamela Tope’s presentation, “Leading in an Unwired World,” part of the TECO Center for Leadership Speaker Series, begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Sykes College of Business, Room 134. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited.

Tope has more than 25 years of experience in the wireless communications industry. She joined GTE Wireless as a manager of information systems in 1987, moving into positions of increasing responsibility in customer service, marketing and business sales over the years. In 2000, she was promoted to director of retail stores for the Carolina/Tennessee Region when GTE became part of the newly-formed Verizon Wireless.

As president of the Florida Region, her team’s commitment to technological innovation, community outreach and employee development have helped the region become one of the fastest-growing in the nation in 2012.

The TECO Center for Leadership Speaker Series is dedicated to bringing outstanding leaders from the private, government and nonprofit sectors to campus to discuss business topics and corporate strategies with students and members of the community.

Please RSVP by Friday, Sept. 28, at www.ut.edu/cfl/speakerseries. For more information, contact Lindsey Smith, coordinator of centers and institutes, at lesmith@ut.edu or (813) 257-3782.
