GRAMMY Signature School Concert Choir to Perform May 4

To close out the First Friday Concert series for 2011-2012, The University of Tampa will welcome the 70-voice Concert Choir from Douglas Anderson High School for the Arts in Jacksonville, FL. The concert will be held in the Sykes Chapel and Center for Faith and Values on Friday, May 4, at noon and is free and open to the public.

Douglas Anderson High School was recognized in 2010 as the No. 1 National GRAMMY Signature School for the best high school music program in the country. Under the direction of Jeff Clayton, the choir has performed extensively throughout the country and abroad. The choir will perform at UT as part of a tour of the Tampa Bay area.

Hein Jung, assistant professor of music, will open the concert with Mozart’s “Alleluia” from “Exultate Jubilate,” and Ryan Hebert, director of choral studies and University organist, will accompany both Jung and the choir on organ.

First Friday Concerts will begin again at the start of the 2012-2013 academic year. For more information, contact Hebert at (813) 257-3344.
