Top student talent from The University of Tampa’s entrepreneurship program will merge with top community talent on Nov. 13–15 to foster innovative startup creation during Startup Weekend Tampa Bay.
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour weekend event during which groups of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more pitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around those ideas and work to develop a working prototype. The teams demonstrate and present their ideas Sunday evening.
The event, which will be held in the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Innovation and Collaboration Building on campus, is sponsored by Startup Weekend Tampa Bay. It is its 12th event in the community, and this particular Startup Weekend event will be a part of a larger Global Startup Battle in which participants at the event will compete against more than 250 cities worldwide. Community members and students alike are welcome to participate.
Rebecca White, director of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, said this is a great way for UT students to interact in meaningful ways with other entrepreneurs from across the region.
“Personally I’m looking forward to seeing the great new ventures that emerge from the event,” she said.
All are welcome at the event in November, especially those who have ideas and have been waiting to put them in action. To register, go to
