On Wednesday, Oct. 7, The University of Tampa will welcome Jacqueline Darna, who will share her story of moving from a clinician to the inventor and CEO of the No Mo Nausea Band, as part of the
John P. Lowth Entrepreneurship Center in the Sykes College of Business’ Main Street Speaker Series.
The event begins with a networking breakfast at 7:30 a.m., with the presentation running from 7:45–9 a.m. It will be held in the Crescent Club on the ninth floor of the Vaughn Center, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.
Darna is the CEO and creator of the No Mo Nausea Band, a natural oil infused acupressure and aromatherapy wristband that works to naturally relieve nausea and vomiting brought on by morning sickness, motion sickness, seasickness and headaches. Darna developed the wristband after struggling with nausea after the birth of her second child, and within one year, her invention is being distributed in seven countries around the world.
A Tampa native, Darna triple majored in biomedical sciences, religious studies and biomedical physics at the University of South Florida, then earned dual master’s degrees in health sciences and anesthesia from Nova Southeastern. She is an anesthesia provider at Brandon Regional Hospital.
No Mo Nausea Band is one of five startup businesses chosen by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce for the 2015 Startup Scholars program. In addition, she is a nominee for the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2015 Up and Comers Awards, was nominated for Surgical Products’ 2015 Excellence in Surgical Products Awards, and was voted an Eco-Friendly Family Product of 2015 by KIWI magazine. Darna has been featured on ABC, NBC, the Today Show, Daytime and multiple radio stations nationwide.
The event is sponsored by NorthStar Bank. Tickets are free for UT students, faculty and staff with a reservation; $15 for individuals; $150 for a table of eight (four seats go to sponsor a student); and a corporate sponsorship is $500.
