While the world might know composer and conductor Samuel Adler for his music, the talented artist is also a teacher.
“I’ve taught for more than 50 years and I always advise students to get technique, don’t write like an amateur,” said Adler, who came to UT to perform, teach and observe during a two-day festival devoted to his music Nov. 12-13.
Adler also advises students to think beyond their careers.
“Try to get an education for the whole human being,” he said, encouraging students to pursue classes in philosophy and history to become well-rounded. “Of course we should get jobs, but we should be educated, wholesome human beings.”
