DNP Application Requirements (for all concentrations):

The application requirements below are needed from all students, regardless of concentration:

  • Official transcripts from EVERY SINGLE college/university EVER attended*
    • High school credits are the only exception to this rule.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Proof of professional liability insurance
  • Three letters of recommendation 
    • One preferred from a previous nursing professor holding a doctoral degree
  • Professional resume or CV
  • Personal statement of professional goals (APA format recommended, 500-800 words)

In addition to the general items above, each concentration has specific documents:

Advanced Practice Nursing Concentration:

  • Florida Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
    • Professional resume must also show at least one (1) year of recent work experience as an APRN
  • National Nurse Practitioner certification
  • Clinical hours attestation form showing minimum 500 clinical hours completed in your previous MSN program 
  • Prerequisites (completed with a “B” grade or higher):
    • Advanced Pathophysiology
    • Advanced Pharmacology
    • Advanced Physical Assessment

Accepted Master’s Degrees: Clinical MSN (for nurse practitioners)

 Leadership in Population and Community Health Concentration:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • One (1) year minimum experience required
  • Clinical hours attestation form showing (if any) clinical hours obtained in your previous graduate program 
  • Experience in leadership/managerial/supervisory position preferred

Accepted Master’s Degrees: MSN, MPH, MBA, MHA or related discipline.

Guaranteed Admission for UT MSN Graduates

Licensed nurse practitioners who earned their MSN from UT with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are in good academic and professional standing are guaranteed admission to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
