As a health psychologist, Kevin McDowell specializes in mind-body wellness. This scope is broad and includes areas such as living with chronic medical conditions, pain management, adjusting to a diagnosis and lifestyle change. It also includes the pursuit of optimal health and physical excellence, and thus a large part of his role will be working with UT athletes. Other areas of passion include working with marginalized populations, adjustment difficulties, LGBTQ+, problems with acculturation, religious/existential concerns and social anxiety.
Professional and Community Activities:
McDowell has been involved in a number of organizations at the local and national level. These have included the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association (FPA), American Psychological Association (APA), APA Division 38 for Health Psychology and the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). Outside of psychology, his volunteer work has included Big Brothers Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity.
