The mission at UT Domino Club is to spread the love and culture of the game of dominoes to the student body of The University of Tampa. Our vision is simple: to give those an opportunity to meet new faces and to spend time with old to make life-long connections over the beautiful game of dominoes.
"I grew up playing dominoes with my Cuban grandparents, so it holds a place in my heart that I want to share with others. I believe the game of dominoes brings people together over friendly competition and strategy, something that many students would have an interest in. A club like this makes sense to have at The University of Tampa with historic Ybor City nearby, which is rooted in Cuban influence. The club serves the purpose of connecting students to a piece of the historic culture of their surroundings. One of the goals of the UT Domino Club is to host an annual domino tournament that raises money for a collectively chosen charity or fundraiser; I envision there being live Cuban music from a local group and pastries and coffee and more. Another goal of the club is to perhaps set up tables and play dominoes in the historic district of Ybor like they used to do back in the days of my grandparents. These goals help to eventually accomplish the end-goal of leaving a lasting legacy at UT of community and culture all through the beautiful game of dominoes. I truly believe coming together over a pastime like dominoes really brings you closer to those around you just like it has done in my personal life and that is what I hope to achieve with my Spartan family."
