Diversity and Inclusion Group Mission Statement
The University of Tampa’s Diversity and Inclusion organizations are dedicated to providing each student with the knowledge and social spaces that promote healthy relationships within each unique identity and between each identity.
Diversity and Inclusion Group Meetings
Thursdays at 11 a.m. in the Vaughn Center, room 212.
UT students can help support a more diverse environment by participating in sponsoring events or by joining the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement (OSLE) Diversity and Inclusion group meetings biweekly. The group meetings provide an opportunity for organizations and individuals to meet up, collaborate, support and learn about inclusive opportunities and share ideas.
All students and organizations are invited to express any concerns, updates or opinions about diversity-related issues during Diversity and Inclusion group meetings. Find us on Engage
In conjunction with Orientation and Family Engagement, Student Leadership and Engagement has created spaces for incoming students to connect in with upperclassmen and groups focused around their identities sharing identity-specific resources. Students must request to be added to the Facebook groups through a direct message on the Instagram or Facebook page using a University of Tampa email address.
Spartan Sustained Dialogue Dialogues
Spartan Sustained Dialogue (SSD) is a student-led organization nationally affiliated with Sustained Dialogue Institute that works to improve community relationships through the practice of dialogue. They define dialogue as a process of “listening deeply enough to be changed by what you hear” and because of that, they are the campus’ main facilitator of dialogues around the big 10 social identities. These identities include race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, ability, citizenship/origin, religion, political affiliation and age.
Spartan Sustained Dialogue works closely with various members of the UT community, including Live Well UT and OSLE Diversity and Inclusion efforts. SSD serves to transform tough topics and conflictual relationships into opportunities for understanding and social change.
These are the various educational and entertaining programming opportunities for University community members. The programs highlight the aspects of the diversity and inclusion that make up our multifaceted campus community.
Success Scholars Program
The Success Scholars Program is a support program for first-generation and/or underrepresented college students at The University of Tampa.

History of Diversity and Inclusion Support
Diversity Fellowship sought to revolutionize the way the University confronted diversity on campus. Serving as a student-led branch of the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, Diversity Fellowship was committed to promoting, appreciating and recognizing diversity on campus.
From 2004—2018, the fellowship worked to gauge the campus climate, develop and implement strategies, serve as an anti-bias resource, and prepared students to become global citizens and ambassadors for a more inclusive University environment.
Diversity Fellowship members planned and implemented events each semester focusing on ability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and socio-economic status/class, collectively known as the Big Eight. Annual events included the Black History Luncheon and Diversity Week.
For more information please contact email@example.com, (813) 257-3268 or Erika Buckley, associate director for leadership and diversity education, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
